Hyderabad THE State government is ready to operate plug and play units in each parliamentary constituency in the State, as part of Andhra Pradesh Food Processing Policy 2020-25, which intends to develop secondary food processing, according to L Sridhar Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, AP Food Processing Society, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

He was addressing the industry and investors virtually as part of the awareness session on food processing opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, organised by CII Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.

He said that proposed forty-two product specific units would create a continuous demand for the farmers' produce, good sale price and adequate raw material for the industry.

Establishment of secondary food processing units would help in building required backward and forward integration and would ensure remunerative price for the farmers' produce, he said. The secondary food processing units are identified based on the availability of local raw material, he added.

Bharath Thota, COO, AP Food Processing Society mentioned that proposed secondary food processing units would create required ecosystem for the value addition of various food products. The proposed model would be win-win situation for industry and Government for accelerating growth in food processing sector.
